On the project beam me up

Our understanding of space is changing. In this new digital age we use terms like Cyberspace, Globalization and World Wide Web, even though we have not yet fully understood the old electro-spaces our lives rely on, such as power supply systems, telephones and broadcasting. By means of audio-visual transportation we can conquer new spaces, which present themselves as both picture planes and spaces of action, places of signs and of real presence.

With the online project beam me up we invite artists and authors from different countries to concern themselves with the concept of space in the form of art contributions and essays. Interpretations of the concept of space are here based on both pictures and texts, on artistic and philosophical models as well as on scientific experience.

From now until the year 2010 we anticipate a vast number of contributions to our project. The variety of material will be organized subjectively in what we call Guided Tours by a number of curators. You, the audience, will also have the possibility to comment on and to propose field research contributions of your own.
