Alec Finlay is an artist, poet & publisher. Born in Scotland in 1966, he now lives in the North-East of England, in Byker (Newcastle upon Tyne). Alec has exhibited widely including in exhibitions at BALTIC (Gateshead), Royal Scottish Academy (Edinburgh), Yorkshire Sculpture Park (West Bretton), Turner Contemporary (Margate), Sainsbury Centre for Visual Art (Norwich), John Hansard Gallery (Southampton), Blickachsen 6 (Bad Homburg), Cairn Gallery (Pittenweem) and EAST (Norwich). While Artist in Residence at Yorkshire Sculpture Park he created a series of art projects on themes connected with nature and contemporary culture, AVANT-GARDE ENGLISH LANDSCAPE. Alec is currently artist in residence at NaREC the New and Renewable Energy Centre (Blyth), developing a series of proposals for text and colour designs for windmill turbines. His selected poems (1990–2009), Be My Reader will appear later this year.
